Reading the Stars: Beyoncé Knowles-Carter

Welcome back to “Reading the Stars”!

As stated in the first iteration of this series, I think one of the best ways to learn about astrology is to apply it to the lives of people that you know, and who doesn’t know Beyoncé? She’s mononymous (in fact there’s an article explaining the astrological significance of her name here), her voice is instantly recognizable, and the celebrities of the world line up to meet her at The Grammys!

I picked up Becoming Beyoncé by J. Randy Taraborrelli, and it provided quite the look into the life of such a famously private person. She’s so secretive, in fact, that we don’t have a clear birth time for her. I’ve seen both a birth time near 4 AM, which would make her a Leo Ascendant, as well as one for 10 AM, pushing her to having a Libra rising.

Therein lies the point of this article: is she a Leo Ascendant, bold, creative and dramatic; or is she a Libra Ascendant, poised, beautiful and partner-focused? The answer to the previously posed question seems quite obvious to the casual observer; Beyoncé is a performer, an artist and a force to be reckoned with; all signs point to Leo, right? Her bombastic moves on stage are too rowdy for poised Libra Ascendant; her dedication to her craft, too passionate for the go-with-the-flow sign attached to laid-back Venus.

Leo or Libra?

It’s not as clear cut to me, though. See, after reading her biography, I’ve noted Beyoncé’s focus on the “other”. That “other” is often her partner, superstar Jay Z, but before that, it was her father. In her more emotional moments, it’s her mother whose feelings are paramount to her own. As a teenager leading one of the most famous girl groups of all time, the health of the group was more important than any of their singular feelings.

This focus on others’ perceptions of her puts Libra rising as a strong contender in this small competition I’ve set up here: so, again, is she a partner-focused Libra Ascendant or an expression-centered Leo Ascendant?

Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter was born on September 4, 1981 to Celestine Ann "Tina" Knowles (née Beyoncé/Beyincé) and Mathew Knowles. She has RIAA’s Most Certified Titles for a Female Artist of All Time with 32 Grammy wins. She is Billboard’s Greatest Pop Star of the 21st Century and one of Rolling Stone’s greatest sIngers of All Time. If she had to battle Madonna for the title of “Queen of Pop” ( a fight, I feel Beyoncé would win), then allow me to crown her “Queen of Music” in this very article.

Stanning aside, to help us choose the correct Ascendant, and thus the correct natal chart for Beyoncé, we will look away from the Ascendant on the horizon, and look directly above us, toward the Midheaven

The Midheaven shows us who we are in the public eye, the person people speak of before they’ve met you or the person who will be remembered when you’re long gone. This is why the Midheaven is especially important to look for in the charts of public figures and famous people.

The first chart (or the Leo Chart, as I’ll be referring to it from now on) places Bey’s Midheaven in the sign of Taurus. This would make her known for her wealth and innate talents, which is inherently true; in fact, she is known for her ability to turn her talent into wealth. Beyoncé is one of the highest paid performers who have ever lived. She finds herself on several Forbes lists, and she reportedly doesn’t even update her net worth on any regular basis, if at all; it is in the hundreds of millions of dollars though, if it hasn’t tipped a billion.

She did make all this money (at least, if you trace it all back) based on her incredible singing ability, followed not so far behind by her ability to entrance a crowd with her powerful and passionate dance moves.  Looking over at chart two (the Libra Chart), we find her MC falling in a sign similar to Taurus, but even more introverted. Cancer is the sign of home, family and inheritance.

Perhaps this is why, as her biography mentions, she’s always “nurturing and projecting a very precise image of herself to the public”. While it’s hard for me to convey this truth to a MC in Taurus (this person would be known for their simplicity and bluntness), it would be quite simple for me to imagine a Cancer MC tucking away their true self, which would be the person their closest friends and family get to witness. Beyoncé even created an alter ego in order to protect the more tender parts of herself from the world. We can look to the Lords of each respective chart’s tenth house to get more context on each MC placement.

For the Leo Chart, Bey’s Libra Venus would be the Lord of her tenth house, the house that is led by the MC. In this chart, her Libra Venus would be placed in her third house. This placement SCREAMS “singer” to me, as the Libra Venus would give her a beautiful countenance, especially concerning the way she uses words. A second house placement would focus more on her voice, but this third house placement could be an indication of her ability to write both lyrics and melodies. This would make Beyoncé a rather balanced and calm artist, which is relatively true to life. She’s always been able to express her thoughts via her innate talents of singing.

If her MC was instead Lorded over by her Scorpio Moon, the second house placement of this planet does point more toward her voice. This would indicate a voice capable of transformation and evolution, one that could maintain its integrity despite its differences and growth. The Libra Chart makes more sense, given this context. Her Scorpio Moon ruling her career and legacy has a great deal of support from the biography, as well. She constantly seeks emotional stability in her work, afraid she’s not balancing the line between being raw and real versus being fake and phony; her need for stability is upset by her transformative nature.

This all adds to her extremely mysterious nature, especially about the expression of her emotions and her inner-world. In fact, Beyoncé is known for her lack of candor in interviews. She was always naturally bashful, and this comes out a great deal in the way she dances around questions volleyed at her, especially in her youth. Additionally, she had (and maybe even still has) a habit of brooding alone when upset. Solitude would be a major key for this placement, so having it affect her work would indicate she does work better alone, at least when attempting to get her initial thoughts out.

This is supported by her not wanting to sing in a chorus as a child and by her career’s skyrocketing trajectory once she officially went solo. So though the Leo Chart almost got me this round, I’m giving the Midheaven to Taurus— the first win for the Libra Chart.

The Ascendant and Sun often tussle about who is the more important point in someone’s natal chart. While the Ascendant often paints the picture of the person’s life, the Sun does all the work for how we express ourselves in that life. Beyoncé is a Virgo Sun, and her Leo Chart places this planet in her second house, while the Libra Chart places is firmly in her twelfth. As a twelfth house Sun native myself, this one should be pretty easy to think through for me.

If her Virgo Sun finds itself in the second house, she would be more likely to work with money. Bankers, tax collectors, and CPAs are likely to have their Sun in this house (or, more likely, the eighth). While Beyoncé is quite wealthy, putting a lot of work into making her income, the second house also rules one’s innate talents. This would mean that she is also likely to work with her gifts on a daily basis. This one sounds much more like it, as we know Beyoncé’s goals weren’t to get rich, but to share her gift with others. In fact, she would tend to identify with her talents a great deal with this placement.

Compare this with the Libra Chart’s twelfth house placement, one I’ve named “The Responsible Martyr”, and you get a much different picture. This placement would make it likely for Beyoncé to work in the field of mental health or even with those who are incarcerated on a daily basis. This doesn’t fit, of course, so we look over to the more spiritual side of this placement. This is a very spiritually mature placement, indicating one who loves being alone. They put a lot of work into setting the order and the energy of their environment, as they’re so sensitive to changes in it.

The part that stuck out the most to me is that this placement would indicate someone who acts a great deal like their mother. This is true for Beyoncé, especially in her work ethic and her relationship with her mental health. Beyoncé’s mother colored most of how she interacts with others, especially her husband and the public. Additionally, Bey has been touted as having perfect pitch by herself and others. Being that naturally in tune with music and art definitely points me toward the twelfth house.

Finally, the fact that she likes to sing sick (which would definitely do a lot to strip her voice, maybe even damaging it) points toward the twelfth house’s focus on one’s undoing, or at least her comfort in appearing imperfect. The single, “XO, from her self-titled album features the singer with a sinus infection.

Perhaps burying the lede a bit, we will now focus on the actualities of her Ascendant sign. The Ascendant presents the filter through which we express our Sun signs, as well as all our other placements. So if Beyoncé held a Leo Ascendant as the Leo Chart attests, we’d see her as a fierce lion, one who is keenly aggressive in her expression of self. Her life would be that of an artist or a creator; her goals always tilted toward the expression of her inner creativity and the realization of her inner child. This would be especially true with her Ascendant in the Leo Decan, further amplifying the radiant and magnetic energy of her life.

A young Beyoncé in the precursor of Destiny’s Child, Girl’s Tyme

https://soultracks.com/story-girls-tyme-release/

We have seen this veneration of her childhood in songs like “16 Carriages”, a leading single from Cowboy Carter, where she acknowledges that her childhood stardom made her early years far from normal. This Ascendant is sextile her Saturn, so if this were her rising sign, we could expect a tempering in the expression of her identity, which we do see via her need for privacy.

Compare this against a Libra Ascendant in the Gemini Decan, which would indicate someone whose life focus is relating through word; a great Ascendant for a poet or perhaps an award-winning songwriter. We can also look to Libra’s focus on the partner, as Jay Z’s presence in Beyoncé’s life has been a an extremely influential one. Finally, we can look to Sasha Fierce. She looks like Beyoncé, and she squashes beefs for Beyoncé, and she even performed with Beyoncé during the songs that needed that extra edge of gangsta. Sasha Fierce became something of a business partner for Beyoncé, one who could voice her frustrations and anger. This utilization of a shadow self points toward the need for a twin, a doppelgänger, to blame the messy stuff on.

If this were her Ascendant, it would be both conjunct her Venus (making her conventionally beautiful and genial with amazing taste), and sextile her Neptune (making her easily misunderstood and projected upon while also opening her up to the spiritual side of artistry).

The last consideration for which Ascendant to choose would be which planet would rule said Ascendant, asserting itself as Bey’s ruling planet. The Leo Chart paints her Virgo Sun as its star— literally. In this chart, her second house would be the domain of the ruling planet, indicating that her life’s focus on her art is carried out in a diligent and monetarily impressive way. This is ostensibly true for all the reasons detailed in the past few sections. If anything, I feel like this is the strongest proponent of the Leo Chart: this ruling planet.

Her ruling planet would be her Libra Venus in the twelfth house if the Libra Chart had its way. I call this placement “The Particular Recluse”, this name reflecting on Bey herself, if this were her ruling placement. If this one were true, her life’s focus on how others relate to her is carried out in a relatable and idealistic way. Less vaguely, her love of peace and beauty comes out most and is enriched when she’s in solitude. Beyoncé isn’t known for being a social person, often even being painted as a shrinking violet who is very good at her job of being a public figure.

I believe the aspects to the Ascendant, the nature of the ruling planet and the vote I already cast for the Midheaven would point me to choose Libra as Bey’s Ascendant sign.

Now you must think the article to be over; yes, I buried the lede, but as you might see, there’s more left to read! If you wanted my professional opinion on Bey’s Ascendant, there it was. If you’re a fan of the ins-and-outs of astrology, like how one may go about rectifying a chart, I invite you to keep reading.

It is here that we uncenter Beyoncé from our narrative, as we look at the factors of her life that would speak to the placement of her Ascendant. The first area we will explore is her family.

Family, Ancestors, Close Friends & Partners

  • Sun- looks inherited from your ancestors, your father or more publicly influential parent

  • Moon- your heritage, your emotional inheritance, your mother or more privately influential parent

  • 4th House- your home life, how you were nurtured, your mother’s effect on your life, your maternal family and their legacy, foundation of your childhood

  • Mercury- your siblings, your habits, your close friends, your sense of humor, the way you talk to others, your ability to communicate, your surroundings, childhood

  • 3rd House- your siblings’ effect on your life, your sense of growing up, your neighborhood (former and current), common themes of your school years and formative relationships

  • Venus- your your idealized partner, your sense of romance, how you form relationships, your love language, your possessions

  • 7th House- your love life, partner’s effect on your life, your sense of fairness, common themes of your one-on-one relationships

  • Descendant (Dsc)- the beginning of the 7th House; the way your love life plays out and the role you take on when forming relationships with others or when conscious of your effect on others

  • Dsc Aspects- how your relationships, love life, and partners interact with other areas of your life and how the roles you take on to support these matters affect the other aspects of your personality

  • 7th House Lord- how you enact the energy of your Descendant; the role you take in the lives of others

  • Saturn- your grandparents, your more authoritative parent, your relationship with boundaries and discipline

  • 10th House- your sense of authority, how you were disciplined, your father’s effect on your life, your paternal family and their legacy, goals of your adult life

  • 10th House Lord- how you enact the energy of your father’s effect on your life; the role you take in reaching the goals of your adult life

Families start at their beginnings: the parents. No matter which chart is Beyoncé’s, there’s no denying that both of her parents are Capricorns. Capricorn is the sign of authority, of the father, and of legacy. Bey’s parents both provided her with a strong sense of boundaries and a strict work ethic, as their Sun placements would suggest. It may also indicate that both parents played the traditional role of “the father” at some point. The father is associated with the Sun, as well— think taking your father’s name as your own.

Super hard to find a stock photo of Mathew; found this one on a music branding site.

https://syncsummit.com/mathew/

If Beyonce’s Virgo Sun was in the second house, as the Leo Chart suggests, her father would keep a close track on her income and her morality. I’m not too sold on the high moral standing of Mathew Knowles, but he was a renown businessman at Xerox before becoming a manager for his daughter. This will solidly place him as a competent executor for Beyoncé’s finances; and that, he was. In fact, he followed her career from Destiny’s Child to going fully solo in 2003; only until Mathew came up as a suspicious party in an audit for Beyoncé’s finances did the two part ways, financially anyway. Additionally, this placement indicates that she must work hard to break out of a rut that her father started for her. This could point to Beyoncé’s successful attempt to break free of her father’s approval while simultaneously breaking free from the approval of her general audience, allowing her to express her own needs and desires.

Having her Virgo Sun in the twelfth house, however, would present her father’s possible hand in her financial woes in a new light, one that makes more sense with the twelfth house’s ties to hidden enemies. This placement would indicate that her father worked very hard to improve the status of her family, even to his own detriment. This is why it was so shocking to his family when Mathew gave up his cushy job at Xerox to act as Bey’s manager, but I figure that he never doubted himself at all. Mathew grew up poor in Alabama, so he was no stranger to the struggle to make ends meet. Even socially, he had to climb that hill that all Capricorns must climb. He was in the first class of Black students at a previously all-white school, shaping Mathew to be a fighter and someone who is very aware of his place in society, two lessons he’d teach his daughters.

This placement would indicate that Beyoncé is likely to act a great deal like her father in his work ethic. Equally, she must work hard to break patterns that he set that aren’t healthy for her, likely in the way he placed his work ahead of his family and his money ahead of his emotions. At this point, I’ll only note when the placement go against my Libra Ascendant verdict, and this one is fully in support of it.

Bey holds a striking resemblance to her mother

Sultry and secretive, Tina Knowles is a perfect embodiment of someone’s mother when their Moon is in Scorpio. Tina had to do a deposition for a financial case that the Knowleses underwent (and was heavily covered in the biography), and she seemed to hate every single minute of it. It seems that this is where Beyoncé gets her sense of privacy and control over how much of her personal life makes it out to us, the general public.

With her Scorpio Moon in the fourth house, her Leo Chart would indicate that Tina had a distinct need to make Beyoncé and others feel safe and at home, fitting in her willingness to take in Kelly Rowland when the latter’s mother had work in Atlanta. This placement indicates that Tina likely took on the role of homemaker, which isn’t wholly true since she ran her own business. She did run this business out of the home, however, so her time spent cooking and taking care of domestic duties was likely more than the typical business-owning mother. Scorpio’s influence indicates that she possibly took on this homemaking role with a bit of spite.

While this placement would ensure that Beyoncé would be likely to identify a lot with her mother, especially in her ability to investigate and tendency to mistrust others, it would also point toward a more mysterious relationship with her mother, a reality that we don’t really get with their publicly friendly and constantly documented relationship. It would also ensure that we would know a lot less about her family, in general, and with her superstar sister, public and proud ancestor veneration, and her fans’ deep and thorough knowledge of Bey’s extended family, this placement seems a bit off.

Her Scorpio Moon being in the second house does make a bit more sense to me, though. With this placement, Beyoncé would constantly seek emotional stability from her mother, which was a recurring matter in her life as she experienced the roller coaster that is the music industry as a teenager, as well as the ups and downs of her two major romances. The second house placement would indicate that her mother is her emotional rock; she’s able to help Beyoncé understand things better, including her own emotions. Additionally, Tina’s choice to grin and bear it in her marriage to Mathew is very much how Bey faced things in her own career and her own marriage troubles. “People don’t need to know” was a common mantra for the family.

The fourth house is often associated with the home, but it mostly symbolizes where our sense of home lies. It is directly related to the family you grew up with, more specifically your maternal family.

The Leo Chart has Bey’s fourth house in Scorpio. This house is gifted with a stellium, having the Moon, Uranus and Juno all inside it. This would indicate a great deal of energy and attention being diverted to Beyoncé’s family life, specifically her mother and her maternal line. This stellium would make Beyoncé an especially emotional person who has a deeply forged bond with her mother, despite the ups and downs of her upbringing. Her sense of commitment and partnership would have been formed by her mother, as well, and I do believe that is true of them, in this case. As aforementioned, Beyoncé does speak on her mother’s side of the family a great deal. Her name itself derives from her mother’s maiden name, Beyincé.

The Libra Chart places her fourth house solidly in the sign of Capricorn, and it would be empty of planets. In that case, we focus on the sign the house is led by, and where the planet associated with that sign falls in the chart. A Capricornian fourth house would indicate a very busy family life, likely promoted by constant hardship, especially due to work or reputation. The biography notes that her parents had issues from the beginning, right up until Beyoncé’s birth. This would indicate a very strict upbringing, accentuating her Capricornian mother’s (and her father’s) Sun sign. This placement also places focus on a long line of matriarchs, but this placement indicates women who are long-lived, independent, and industrial.

Interestingly, in another natal chart I’d assume that this person may work from home or be very at home in their career. This fits with Beyoncé’s constant traveling and her lack of school upbringing (no homecoming for her; she said she never felt like a part of a student body), all due to her career sparking at a young age.

Solange, Miss Tina, and Bey

https://www.theextraordinarynegroes.com/theblog/mental-health-monday-59

As for her siblings and close childhood friends, we look to Beyoncé’s Mercury, the planet that represents those around us and our environment, especially when we’re children. Her Mercury is in Libra despite the chart you choose, and this explains her equally-yoked relationship with her little sister, Solange. Being the more famous, older, and wealthier sister, it would be easy for Solange to be the bitter sibling, a role many cast her in with no justification. Their mother had them go to counseling as soon as Beyoncé became famous to circumvent these feelings before they could fully settle into her young daughters.

To be more specific, her Libra Mercury would be placed in the third house in the Leo Chart. This would certainly explain why her siblings were always in tow, almost like a partner. Solange would go to Bey’s pageants, performances, and concerts. One could also extend the scope of siblings to her best friend and former bandmate, Kelly, who she met at age ten and who lived with the family for years.

The Libra Chart, however, has her Mercury in the twelfth house. This placement indicates that her siblings would have been distanced from her, possibly due to her parents’ relationships. Additionally, this placement indicates that her inability to connect with her siblings can cause her to come off as better-than or uppity. This could explain Bey’s fans’ early response to Solange’s music. They considered it not as good as Beyoncé’s just because it was different. I’d argue that this placement also points towards Bey’s half-sibling, her father’s son out of wedlock. I won’t touch too much on the issue because I find that there is a fine line between gossip and reporting, but Mathew did have a child (at least one) while still married to Tina.

It is also reported that Bey has no contact with this child and never has (which is well within her right), painting a vivid picture of the twelfth house: one of distance, ignorance, and separation. Beyoncé has been criticized on this decision, one made with likely far more consideration and information than the general public has to offer. This placement would actually make me lean toward the Leo Chart if we didn’t have the information about Mathew’s other child(-ren). The tricky nature of the twelfth house solidifies it for me though; this leak of information is one of the more concrete confirmations about Bey’s Libra Ascendant, for me anyway.

Looking toward her third house of early childhood, your siblings’ places in your life, and your scholarly upbringing, one finds her Libran third house (suggested by her Leo Chart) full, with a six-planet stellium in it. Packed stellium synopsized: her siblings strive for peace, especially in their speech and their relationship Beyoncé. To me, this implies that there would actually be a lot of difference and conflict in Bey’s relationships with her siblings (the ones she grew up with; the third house would mostly ignore Mathew’s other children, while solidly including Kelly, since they grew up in the same house), and I don’t see that as the case. Her entire sense of expansion and boundaries would be based upon siblings. Honestly, I think she finds that expansiveness within her husband (whose section is up next!)

I find her Sagittarius third house to be much more fitting, as described in her Libra Chart. This house includes Neptune, the planet of music and artistic expression, which wholly encompasses both Solange and her sisters in song, Destiny’s Child. This placement suggests that Beyoncé would have wild and expansive siblings, ones who are likely just as artistic as she is. Neptune’s placement here though, may also indicate some mental illness in her siblings, or a sense of not belonging. This placement seems to resonate more with what we know about her life: Solange’s music discusses how she copes with her mental health (please listen to “Cranes in the Sky, if you haven’t had the pleasure); Kelly’s abusive relationship and rise out of it was chronicled in her music and in Destiny’s Child’s “Girl”; and Michelle’s public fight with depression and her own previously toxic relationship.

Jay Z in 2024

https://just450ng.wordpress.com/2024/02/07/jay-z-accepts-dr-dre-global-impact-award-2024-grammys-acceptance-speech-watch/

Finally, we get to Beyoncé’s husband, “her rock”, as she called him in one of her deep-cuts from I Am… Sasha Fierce. As I mentioned already, I think Beyonce’s focus on her husband points toward her having a Libra Ascendant. Every Libra rising isn’t coupled, but partnership is a major tenet of their lives, one that they can’t ignore.

Her Ascendant aside though, we can look to Bey’s Venus which, in her Leo Chart, is in the third house. Beyoncé’s Libra Venus indicates a love of peace and beauty, but this house placement indicates that she only gets this sense of calm when in familiar surroundings. Perhaps this is why she feels so at home on stage as she has likely spent as much time on stage as she has in most other places in her life. Additionally, her artistry would be tapped into what others are thinking and talking about, placing a huge emphasis on what pop culture wants from her, versus what she needs from her art.

Now, if her Libra Venus were in the twelfth house, this love of peace and beauty would best be enjoyed when she’s in her own company. In fact, her relationships would play out best when the two of them are sequestered away with each other. This is illustrated in her relationship with Lyndall Locke, her first serious boyfriend (and only one, beside Jay Z). Their relationship was going fine until Beyoncé’s fame put pressure on Lyndall to be more successful. Taking all other issues into consideration (cheating, physical distance, age) the publicity of the relationship ultimately killed it. This is mirrored in her relationship with Jay Z, who she didn’t confirm was even her boyfriend until years after they began dating. She also didn’t confirm their marriage, again, until years after the fact.

Forming a one-on-one connection with your partner is a spiritual experience with this twelfth house placement. This would explain why Jay Z came basically right after Lyndall; in fact, the two had a bit of an overlap where Bey was moving on from Lyndall and getting into Jay. She didn’t even initially find Jay attractive, alluding to the twelfth house’s tie to not knowing what’s good for us.

Looking directly at the Lords of each respective seventh house, Bey’s Libra Saturn takes on this role in the Leo Chart. It is placed in her third house, indicating that her relationships with other people may make her feel restrained in her intelligence or ability to share ideas. This placement would see Beyoncé’s partner stifling her voice and limiting her ability to move around. This could be seen in how extremely concerned Bey is with her partner’s opinions of her, but this could be just as easily explained if she had a Libra Ascendant.

Speaking of, her Libra Chart would have her Leo Mars in the tenth house as the Lord of her house of relationships. This placement indicates that her relationship actually motivates her to publicize her art and other creations, an inverse of what the Leo Chart suggests. As I said, she needed approval from Jay, much like she needed it from her father, but this is due to Bey’s knowledge that both her father and Jay have great ears for hits and know her art as well as she does, not because she needs their approval to feel talented or useful. To support the Libra Chart, her Descendant here would be opposite her Venus and trine her Neptune. These aspects are really demonstrative to me; the first indicating that her personal wants and urges may oppose what she needs to actualize herself in the world.

Jay often feels as if she was, and likely feels that she still can be, too focused on her work. Her want to express herself may actually be counterproductive to being who she actually is outside of being an artist. Additionally, this Neptune aspect would make it rather easy for others to project things onto her, which we know happens quite often.

A truly iconic silhouette

For most people, their claim to fame and their career are one and the same; Beyoncé is no different, but I hope that looking at her career specifically will also shed some light on why I believe she is a Libra Ascendant native. First, when looking at her income, we have to consider Bey’s second house. The Leo Chart has her second house led by earthy Virgo, which is a boon for having an easily flowing and substantial income, especially when one labors in service of others and works efficiently. With her Virgo-led second house, it would be more likely for Beyoncé to make money in healthcare or the service industry. One could stretch this definition to her actual work: making others feel good, getting them pumped for a workout, or establishing a powerful exchange of energies at each of her stadium-filling concerts.

It’s still a bit of a stretch for me though, so I’d look to the planets in this house. In this case, Bey’s Sun would find itself in this house, establishing that she would identify with her financial status. I’d have no idea if Beyoncé identifies with her billionaire status on any major level, but from what we do know, she certainly doesn’t update her net worth very much. I’d argue a second house Sun would be very keen on keeping up with where they fall on the Forbes list. This would keep a steady balance on any monetary fluctuations, though.

The Libra Chart, on the other hand, would have her second house beginning in Scorpio; here we’d find her Moon & her Uranus, This placement would imply that she has a transformative income that stems from family work. Here, I’d have to accept Girl’s Tyme and its successor, Destiny’s Child, as a “family business”. It isn’t out of pocket to do so, but then you could also look to Beyoncé’s sister, a fellow famous singer. Then there’s her husband, arguably the greatest rapper of all time. One could argue that the music business is the family business. The wealth or poverty of someone with this placement is uncommon and notable. In this case, obviously Uranus has this effect on her immense wealth. Her drive to express her art to the world makes her money, especially with the Moon in this house. This implies that using her inner world and deep emotions will inevitably make her an income.

Onward to the sixth house, house of routine, labor, and service; the Leo Chart places Bey’s sixth house in Capricorn. Again, this earthy influence does well in this physicality-linked house, as this placement would indicate daily work that will involve her making executive decisions and delegating to others. We know that Bey is the boss of her own productions, so this actually does well to support the way her life expresses itself. This also indicates someone who will likely make a good income in comparison to their co-workers and compared to the people she works with and the people of whom she’s a peer, she is still at the higher earning level.

This is opposed to the Libra Chart placing Pisces as the leader of her sixth house. To me, this indicates daily work that will involve spiritual work and artistic channeling. This is definitely true to her career, as many artists feel as if they don’t get their ideas from their own brains, but by tapping into the zeitgeist or even their own soul. I actually prefer the Leo Chart when looking at Beyoncé’s sixth house. Perhaps this adds to the confusion of which chart is actually hers, or perhaps we (read: I) know less about the ins and outs of her daily life. What we are privy to is the nature of Bey’s tenth house, as it is the house reputation, career, and legacy.

With Taurus leading her tenth house, as the Leo Chart suggests, we would see a career that will provide her with stability and outlet for her talent, as well as her pain. Above all, a genuine connection with others is what shapes her legacy, and with this placement, she does this especially with her words. This rings true to Beyoncé’s musical ability, not so much to her actual life though, as we know little about it and less so as she ages and experiences more of the business she’s propelled herself into.

With her tenth house in Cancer, the Libra Chart suggests a career that will establish her family’s legacy as much as her own. This is fitting since many members of the Knowles’ immediate and extended family have created businesses and were able to expand their careers off the hard work put in when Bey was a child; in fact, many of the family simply have worked for Beyoncé herself. This placement ensures an intensity and sureness of emotion that would qualify her career. In fact, her Cancer Midheaven would make her known for her ability to turn her emotions into spiritual art. The kicker for me is her distinct need for boundaries to be placed between her professional and personal life. This is exhibited in the way she doesn’t share much in interviews, if she does any interviews, at all.

An anecdote from the biography even saw Bey reluctant to kiss Mekhi Pfeiffer, a known heartthrob at the time when she played opposite him in Carmen: A Hip-Hopera. This shows her unwillingness to blur this boundary with something as intimate as kissing.

In conclusion, it’s quite obvious to me that our beloved Beyoncé, the Queen Bey of Music and Billboard’s newly crowned Greatest Pop Star of the 21st Century, was born under a Libra Ascendant. The grace with which meets life, her devotion to other people (especially her parents, husband and fans), and her immense, jaw-dropping beauty, seemingly inside and out, all point toward Venusian Libra as the head of her natal chart.

In fact, having her Venus so close to her Libra Ascendant would have say that Beyoncé is a worthy and capable embodiment of Venus, herself. She is noted along with other women of our generation like Angelina Jolie, Charlize Theron, and Rihanna, women who are all known for their beauty and who all have their Venus conjunct their Ascendant.
